Thursday 9th July 2020

Happy Thursday everyone! Today we are going to be comparing mass in Maths, continuing our stories in English, doing some outdoor PE (if the weather allows it!) and some PHSE.

Complete the worksheet comparing mass using < and > signs. (Remember the crocodile always eats the bigger number!)

English

Today in English we are continuing and finishing off our stories. Remember to follow your plan and I want a lot of details. We will be checking it tomorrow, so make sure that you add adverbs and adjectives!

Here is my example for my problem.

Just then, a flashing ball of light came hurtling towards them! Crash! It hit the moon with a giant thud. Tom and his dad and grand-dad quickly leaped out of the way into a crater.

When they looked up they saw the most gigantic star that any of them had ever seen. How on earth were they ever going to move that?

Having tried lots of different tools to move it, and braking some along the way, the two men were stumped! What were they going to do?

PHSE

We are thinking about how we can make ourselves happy and what we can do to rest. What on ways  can we keep healthy? How to do relax? What do you do in your leisure time?

Task: Make a collage of ways of relaxing after school, at weekend and in the holidays

Wednesday 8th July 2020

Happy Wednesday, we've made it to half way through the week! Well done everyone! Today we are going to look at mass in Maths, start writing our story in English, Joe Wicks PE and do some lovely moon pictures in Art.

Read through the powerpoint and answer the questions about comparing mass.

English

Today we are going to begin to write your story. You are only going to write the opening and build up to your story, because I want this to include a lot of detail. Use your word bank that you created on Monday to add some fantastic vocabulary. I suggest that you re-watch the film (which is still below) to have a fresh idea of what happened.

Here is my example of an opener. I will expect this level of writing from you too!

It was a beautiful, starry night when Tom, his dad and grand-dad rowed out on the calm, rippling sea. It was Tom's first adventure out on La Luna and he felt excited and a little nervous.

When they had gently come to a stop, his grand-dad gave him a small, blue and spotty parcel. He unwrapped it to find a brown hat. He proudly put it on but then his grand-dad and dad began to argue, like always about how he should wear it!

With a bit of a grump, they sat cross armed waiting. They waited until suddenly a bright beam of like shone throughout the sky. The big, bright moon quickly rose up through the sky and shined as bright as the sun. Tom was amazed!

Think about how you can use adverbs and adjectives in your writing too!

PE

To create a picture of the moon using observation

Using inspiration from La Luna (the short film we are retelling for our English work), and the other pictures, create a picture of the moon in any media you choose. It could be a sketch, a painting, chalk or even a collage if you want!

Tuesday 7th July 2020

Happy Tuesday everyone! Hope you're all having a good start to the week. Today, we are doing Maths, English, PE and Science.

Using our learning from yesterday, complete this worksheet based on measuring mass on scales.

Tomorrow in English, we are going to re-write the story of La Luna (the short film you watched yesterday), so today you need to plan this using a story mountain. Write down what happened in the beginning (rowing to the moon), what the build up was (choosing that correct equipment for the job), what the big problem was (the big star landing), how the problem was solved (the boy tapping with with a hammer), and the ending (rowing home).

Try to make your plan as detailed as possible, as this will make writing the story easier! If you need to re-watch La Luna then just watch it from Monday's lessons, this may help to refresh your memories!

PE

Set up your own obstacle course using objects from around your house.

Try to make it as exciting as possible.

Science

Watch the video above (you will need your Activlearn password to access this, if you can't get in or can't remember your password, please email the year 3 email), then play ‘Plant Taboo’. Once you have done that, write the description for three cards.

Monday 6th July

Good morning everyone and welcome to another fun filled week! I hope you had a lovely weekend and are fresh and ready for another day of learning. Today, we are doing Maths, English, PE an RE!

Read through the powerpoint on Mass and complete the questions as you go! Remember, if there is anything that you do not understand or need some help with, please email our year 3 email (year3@blessedmotherteresas.staffs.sch.uk) as I check them regularly throughout the day!

English
