Mathematics

At Blessed Mother Teresa’s Catholic Primary School we want every child to be happy and enthusiastic learners of mathematics, and to be eager to achieve their very best in order to fulfil their God-given talents. We firmly believe that the recipe for success is high quality first-wave teaching in mathematics, which is central to the life of our happy, caring school.

Year 1 - Maths is the best subject because I love numbers.

Year 3 - Morning maths has really helped me to become quicker with my mental maths.

Year 4 - I like using base ten and place value counters to help me.

Year 4 - I like to push myself to complete the challenge questions.

Year 5 - I really enjoy problem solving and I am getting better at explaining the methods I have used to solve a problem.

Year 5 - I enjoy using concrete objects to help me explore the question in the 'Discover' part of the lesson.

Year 6 - Maths is really fun and challenging. I particularly enjoy arithmetic and I try to apply this knowledge to other areas of maths.
